large storage capacity, space efficiency thanks to the vertical design, and optimal water quality protection from contamination and temperature changes.
The quality and thus the longevity of a water silo or reservoir directly depends on the choice of lining material. The selection is guided by factors such as climate and type of storage. Genap offers a wide range of membranes and protective materials, perfectly tailored to suit a variety of conditions.
To protect the liner from sharp elements in the walls or bottom of the reservoir or silo, we use a PP non-woven felt weighing 250 g/m². This material combines low weight with high puncture resistance, optimally protecting the liner.
For slope protection in a water reservoir, a UV-resistant PP tape fabric in black is used. The material is permeable to wind and water but largely blocks harmful sunlight. The fabric weighs approximately 200 g/m² and is also used in anti-algae tensioned covers.
The Genatex® 900 Plus is a reinforced PVC membrane with a density of 900 gr/m². This material features an additional UV stabilisation in the coating layer, which enhances its durability under sunlight exposure. The core of the membrane is composed of a PES weave, providing the necessary strength and stability. Due to this combination of properties, the material is exceptionally suited for applications where it is subjected to mechanical stress and exposed to extreme climatic conditions.
Aquatex® membrane are designed for sealing purposes, enabling water storage in a reservoir or silo. Our products vary in material type, each with unique properties for specific applications, as detailed in our comparison table. Key features such as UV and temperature resistance, thicknesses, weights, and chemical resistance are concisely summarized in a table for easy reference.
Genap’s water silo systems have earned a worldwide reputation for their excellence and affordability in storing vast amounts of water.
Genap’s water silo systems have earned a worldwide reputation for their excellence and affordability in storing vast amounts of water. Designed to be modular, they offer storage capacities that range from 5 to 2,000 cubic metres and boast the significant advantage of requiring only manpower for assembly. This means there’s no need for construction cranes or heavy machinery. To enhance the system, we provide custom-fit silo linings and covers. Not only are these silos simpler to set up compared to traditional water reservoirs, but they also serve efficiently for in-greenhouse use, managing the day’s water supply with ease.

The corrugated panels that make up the silo come in lengths of 2.24 and 3.05 metres. These panels are galvanized as standard. Optionally, an extra coating can be applied to both sides of the panels, which extends both the lifespan and the warranty period of the silo. The available liner materials are suitable for all types of water, including wastewater, recirculated water, and drinking water.
Tensioned covers | Floating covers
Genap’s tensioned covers are available for both indoor and outdoor setups of water silos. They are manufactured using Genatex® 700, a specially designed open weave fabric that is permeable to water while effectively keeping out dirt and light. The tension covers are made with an overlap and a reinforced hem with eyelets, making them easy and secure to stretch over the silo. Access to the silo is possible through a manhole, which can be optionally installed.
With the SiloFloat®, algae growth and other contaminants are almost entirely eliminated. This maintains the quality of the water, thereby avoiding blockages in irrigation systems. Additionally, the storage capacity of the silo can be fully utilised as the SiloFloat® counteracts wave action and evaporation.
The Genap Airfloat is a smart and cost-effective solution for reducing evaporation, limiting algae growth, and regulating water temperature in a storage silo. This cover is made from durable double-layer polyethylene and floats directly on the water surface. Thanks to the integrated edge that hangs into the water, the cover stays securely in place – even in strong winds.
The structure has been statically calculated and engineered for long-term use in all weather conditions. The galvanized steel frame is covered with a reinforced Genatex 450 membrane that resists UV radiation and temperature fluctuations. An integrated manhole ensures continued access to the silo. And if the silo lining needs to be replaced? It can be done without removing the dome.
The open Genafloat® from Genap is the sustainable solution for covering your water reservoir. The Genafloat is designed to effectively prevent algae growth, reduce evaporation, and diminish wave action. This maximises the storage capacity of the water storage system while maintaining water quality.
Genap’s semi-closed Genafloat® not only provides effective protection against various forms of pollution but also contributes to the preservation of water quality. This makes it an ideal choice for modern water storage systems in the horticulture sector. This cover is also available with an anchoring system for floating solar panels.
In addition to the open or semi-enclosed Genafloat, Genap also offers a tensioned cover for narrow water reservoirs, perfect up to 23 metres in width. This unique cover fully encloses the reservoir and is made from a water-permeable, anti-algae, and dirt-repellent material. The tension cover remains securely in place thanks to support and tension straps, anchored by hardwood poles in the embankment.*
GenaFlexstore® | Fully closed water reservoir | Pillowtank
Genap’s GenaFlexstore® represents a revolutionary advancement in water storage technology, combining liner and cover in a patented, seamless solution. This cutting-edge system virtually negates any external impact on water quality, ensuring the integrity of the stored water is maintained at its highest level. With its integrated design, the system dramatically reduces water loss through evaporation, optimising the use of the silo’s full capacity.

In countries with more extreme temperatures, a fully closed water storage system is often preferred for storing irrigation water. This minimises external influences on water quality, providing an optimal solution against algae growth or contamination from blowing sand or other debris. Rainwater landing on the floating cover does not make contact with the stored water, while floaters and ventilation openings in the cover facilitate necessary air circulation.

Genap’s pillow tanks are designed as a quick, flexible solution for both temporary and permanent water storage needs. Only a flat surface is required for installation, making it an ideal option for rapidly creating additional water storage, a critical requirement during periods of increasing drought.
